A delicious and savory fall treat

Preheat over to 450º

2 3/4 cups whole wheat flour (or 3 cups regular flour)
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter (melted)
3/4 tablespoon sugar
1 1/8 cup buttermilk

Mix dry ingredients. Add melted butter and crumble dough with fingers until thoroughly mixed, then mix/knead milk until well blended.

Break off chunks of dough and flatten only slightly onto greased pan. You want to keep the “peaks” in the dough, as these make wonderfully delicious little crunchy bits to break off.

Bake at 450º for 17 minutes. Enjoy with a cup of spice tea with milk and honey, or pair with my White Chicken Chili recipe. Delicious!
